Data protection and privacy is something we’re all concerned about. All of our clients seeking an iPhone repair in Auckland and throughout New Zealand want to know their data will remain safe throughout the process, as do our customers who ask us to service all other major brands. It’s a valid concern and one we’re happy to address and advise you about.
To preserve the valuable data you’ve accumulated on your iPhone or any other device, we recommend you back it up before you have it serviced. This is something you should do on a regular basis anyway, but as we can’t take any responsibility for lost data it is crucial you back up at this point.
Of course, it might be a case of your device failing before you had a chance to back up any data. If this happens to you, we can attempt a data recovery and will charge a small fee if we’re successful, or we can refer you to a specialist.
Something else that concerns a number of our clients is who might see data that is of a more sensitive nature. Again, we fully understand that private information should remain private but to be upfront with you, we cannot guarantee data privacy or security even though we take every reasonable step to do so. The fact is, during the course of hardware or software repairs, sensitive data may be visible to our certified technicians and other involved parties. The best way to stop people from seeing your sensitive data is to remove it from your device before you have it serviced.
Finally, when it comes to servicing your device we will need to access it to test and repair it. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that we’ll need your Login ID or password. Our advice is that you remove these things before the service and reinstate them as soon as we return the device to you.
We want you to have total peace of mind when we carry out any service, be it an iPhone repair or fixing up an issue with any other major brand. Data protection and privacy are just two of the things you want to feel reassured about so we advise you go through the steps we’ve listed above. If you have any other concerns about data and privacy during the service process, we invite you to contact us and we’ll happily answer your questions and discuss any other points that might be worrying you.
